Nigeria Urges Iran, Israel to Cease Hostilities, Warns of Regional Fallout

The Federal Government has called for an immediate halt to the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel, stressing the need for restraint to prevent a broader regional crisis.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, in a statement on Friday, raised concerns over the ongoing exchange of missile and drone attacks between the two Middle Eastern countries. He described the development as deeply troubling, noting that the cycle of retaliation threatens innocent civilian lives and could further destabilize an already fragile region.

Tuggar warned that the deepening hostilities could have serious implications for global peace and economic stability, urging both sides to embrace diplomacy over force.

He also called on the United Nations Security Council and other global stakeholders to intensify efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and fostering dialogue.

Reiterating Nigeria’s commitment to peace, the minister maintained that sustainable solutions lie in negotiation and respect for international law, not military confrontation.
