DHQ Overhauls Operation Delta Safe, Intensifies Military Engagements in Niger Delta

In a fresh move to strengthen security architecture and improve operational efficiency in the Niger Delta region, the Defence Headquarters has announced a major restructuring of Operation Delta Safe and other ongoing military operations within the region.

Brigadier General Mohammed Abu-Mawashi, Deputy Director of Defence Media Operations, disclosed this during a military diplomacy outreach to communities and cultural groups in Rivers State.

During visits to Degema, Ahoada East, and Eleme, the senior military officer emphasized the importance of intelligence sharing between residents and security forces, describing it as key to forestalling security threats and enhancing the military’s proactive response capabilities.

The outreach, aimed at bridging the gap between the military and local communities, forms part of a nationwide campaign that has seen similar engagements in other geo-political zones.

The Defence Headquarters maintains that the restructuring is also designed to promote transparency, boost accountability, and ensure a faster, more coordinated response to emerging security challenges in the oil-rich region.
