The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced that student upkeep loans will now be strictly aligned with academic sessions, ending automatically once an institution concludes its academic year.
In a statement issued in Abuja by the Director of Strategic Communications, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, NELFUND clarified that students will only access upkeep loans within their current academic session. Upon moving to a new academic year, they must reapply for fresh support covering both tuition-related charges and upkeep.
The agency further explained that its loan portal is being upgraded to reflect the new policy, ensuring students can only view upkeep disbursements relevant to their active session. Institutions have also been directed to promptly upload their academic calendars to guarantee uninterrupted benefits for students.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and efficiency, NELFUND called on stakeholders to support the seamless execution of the new directive.
