Nigeria Moves to Establish Digital Agriculture Village Initiative with UN Support

The Federal Government of Nigeria, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, is set to roll out a Digital Agriculture Village Initiative (DVI) aimed at revolutionizing the country’s agri-food systems.

The initiative, anchored in a broader digital innovation strategy, seeks to address pressing challenges in building inclusive and sustainable agricultural value chains nationwide.

Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, expressed strong support for the project, affirming the government’s commitment to “enhancing agro-productivity through the adoption of DVI across all agricultural value chains.”

Kyari also noted the transformative potential of emerging technologies, emphasizing that “on a global scale, artificial intelligence plays a crucial role in precision farming, resource management, and improving crop yields.”
