EX-AVIATION MINISTER ODUAH FREED IN N2.4BN FRAUD CASE; TWO FIRMS CONVICTED

A High Court in the Federal Capital Territory on Thursday discharged a former Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, along with her aide, Gloria Odita, in a N2.4bn fraud trial after both parties entered into a plea agreement.

In its ruling, the court upheld the settlement terms that led to their release from the charges.

However, the trial judge found two companies associated with the case—Sobora International Limited and Global Offshore Marine Limited—guilty. The court subsequently ordered that both firms be dissolved.

It also directed that the sum of N1.98bn, said to have been recovered and returned during the course of the investigation, be forfeited to the Federal Government.
