The All Progressives Congress (APC) has adjusted its timetable for the 2027 general elections, moving its presidential primary to May 23, 2026, while the governorship primaries will now be conducted on May 21.
The party announced the changes after its 186th National Working Committee (NWC) meeting held in Abuja on Thursday.
Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Duro Meseko, who addressed journalists, said the revised schedule also affects other pre-primary activities, including the screening of aspirants and the resolution of appeals.
He noted that the sale of nomination forms will run from April 25 to May 2, while the submission of completed forms has been fixed for May 4.
Screening of aspirants is expected to hold between May 6 and May 9, with the presidential screening slated for the last day.
Meseko explained that the staggered primaries will begin with the House of Representatives on May 15, followed by the Senate on May 18 and State Houses of Assembly on May 20. The governorship and presidential primaries will take place on May 21 and May 23, respectively.
He added that the party would adopt both direct and consensus options in selecting its candidates, in line with provisions of the Electoral Act.
The APC spokesman also dismissed speculations that nomination forms would be restricted, insisting that all interested aspirants have equal access.
Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed January 16, 2027, for the presidential and National Assembly elections, while governorship and state assembly polls are scheduled for February 6, 2027.
