In a powerful keynote address at the ongoing Rabat Process Thematic Meeting, Hon. Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, OON, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), called on global stakeholders to prioritize strengthening regular migration pathways to enhance labour mobility across continents.
The meeting, chaired by Nigeria, focused on the theme: “Youth, Education and Innovation: Driving the Future of Migration.” Dr. Dabiri-Erewa, who served as both keynote speaker and panelist, emphasized the need for policy coherence and sustainable frameworks that facilitate safe, orderly, and regular migration for young people seeking educational and economic opportunities abroad.

“We must collectively strengthen regular migration pathways that can support labour mobility, especially for our teeming youth population. Innovation and education are key drivers of this future,” she stated.
The Rabat Process, formerly known as the Euro-African Dialogue on Migration and Development, is a platform that brings together countries from Europe and Africa to collaborate on migration and development strategies.

Dr. Dabiri-Erewa highlighted Nigeria’s commitment to international migration cooperation and the importance of diaspora engagement in national development.
