The Ondo State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Kuburat Omowumi Bakare, has urged members of the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II to remain disciplined and committed to the ideals of the scheme throughout their service year.
Bakare made the call while addressing the corps members during the State Coordinator’s briefing at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ondo State.
She introduced the four cardinal programmes of the scheme, namely the orientation course, primary assignment, Community Development Service (CDS), and the winding-up and passing-out exercise.
According to her, the orientation course is intended to prepare corps members for the responsibilities and challenges of the service year.
She described the orientation camp as a regimented environment and urged the corps members to familiarise themselves with and obey the rules guiding their stay in camp.
Bakare also explained the dos and don’ts of the camp, urging the corps members to remain focused and use the orientation period to prepare for their role in nation-building.
She advised them to approach their various postings with dedication and discipline, while demonstrating a strong sense of national unity and contributing meaningfully to their host communities.
“You are ambassadors of this great nation. Wherever you are posted, carry yourselves with integrity and make a positive impact in your host communities,” she said.
The coordinator also informed the corps members about welfare measures provided by the NYSC management, including health insurance coverage, security arrangements and a grievance reporting system.
The 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream II corps members are expected to proceed to their various Places of Primary Assignment (PPA) across Ondo State after completing the three-week orientation programme.
