
The College of Nursing Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex, Ile-Ife, Osun State, has capped 122 students at its fifth capping ceremony.
The ceremony, held on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at the Florence Nightingale Hall, Ile-Ife, was organised for the National Diploma I students of the 2025 intake of the college in Ile-Ife and Ilesa.
In her welcome address, the Provost of the college, Mrs Lolade Oyedero, appreciated the management of OAUTHC and the Parents-Tutors Forum for their continued support towards the growth and development of the institution.
Oyedero described the college as a beacon of excellence in nursing education and care, urging the students to uphold the standards of excellence for which the institution is known.
Representing the Chief Medical Director, the Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Prof. Olalekan Olasehinde, congratulated the students on their success in the examinations.
Olasehinde urged them to remain focused, uphold the ethics and values of the nursing profession and maintain high standards throughout their careers.
Also, while administering the professional oath, the representative of the Director of Nursing Services, Osun State, Mrs Adenike Onifade, charged the students to adhere to the rules, ethics and principles guiding the nursing profession.
She congratulated them on choosing nursing, describing it as a noble profession.
The keynote speaker, Dr Abidemi Fajobi, who spoke on the theme, “The Journey Starts Now,” encouraged the students to continually improve their knowledge and skills as they begin their professional careers.

The Chairman of the Parents-Tutors Forum, Mr Ayodele Esanju, highlighted the contributions of the forum to the development of the college through various interventions and donations aimed at improving students’ academic experience and welfare.
The high point of the ceremony was the capping exercise, during which 122 students were formally capped by the management team and dignitaries, marking a significant milestone in their journey into the nursing profession.
