NCoS Launches Manhunt for 7 Inmates Who Escaped Ilesa Correctional Centre

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has launched a manhunt to track down seven inmates who escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Ilesa, Osun State, following a perimeter wall collapse triggered by heavy rainfall.

The incident, which occurred around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, has prompted swift action from the Service.

According to a statement from the NCoS, the Controller General, Sylvester Nwakuche, has ordered a full-scale investigation into the jailbreak. Meanwhile, security agencies and community leaders are working hand-in-hand to recapture the escapees.

“The public is urged to assist with any useful information via the NCoS Response Desk lines,” the statement said.

Efforts are ongoing to restore security and prevent further breaches.
