NSIB Probes Crash-Landing of Training Aircraft at Ilorin Airport

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has launched an investigation into the crash-landing of a Diamond training aircraft operated by an aviation training school at the Ilorin International Airport.

The incident occurred around 5:28 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2025, during a simulated instrument approach on Runway 05.

According to a statement by the Director, Public Affairs and Family Assistance, Bimbo Olawumi Oladeji, the aircraft veered off the runway and came to a stop on the grass verges.

There were two occupants on board at the time of the incident. Both sustained injuries and were promptly evacuated to a medical facility, with the rescue operation coordinated by the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).

A Go-Team from the NSIB has visited the crash site to commence an on-site investigation.

Oladeji added that further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
