JUST IN: Ondo Deputy Speaker, Majority Leader Resign Amid Restructuring

The Deputy Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Mr. Abayomi Akinruntan, and the Majority Leader, Mr. Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, have resigned from their respective positions.

Akinruntan, who represents Ilaje Constituency I, and Ogunmolasuyi, representing Owo Constituency I, are both members of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The announcement of their resignations was made during Tuesday’s plenary session, presided over by the Speaker of the House, Mr. Olamide Oladiji.

In a brief address to his colleagues, Akinruntan cited internal political power-sharing arrangements within the state as the reason for stepping down.

In a swift development, the lawmakers elected Mr. Ololade Gbegudu, representing Okitipupa Constituency II, as the new Deputy Speaker, while Mr. Olatunji Oshati of Ose Constituency emerged as the new Majority Leader.

Further details will be provided as the story develops.
