Kano Phone Market Fire: Barau Visits Scene, Donates N200m for Security Support

Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, on Friday paid a visit to the popular phone market at Farm Centre in Kano to commiserate with traders affected by a recent fire incident.

Moved by the level of destruction caused by the inferno, Senator Barau expressed deep concern and announced a donation of N200 million to support the traders. The funds, he stated, will be used to procure security and other essential gadgets aimed at mitigating the impact of the disaster and preventing future occurrences.

Describing the market as a vital economic hub, he said, “The market is a source of income for hundreds of our youths in Kano. It is therefore important to prioritise the provision of security as a preventive measure.”

The Deputy Senate President reassured the affected traders of his continuous support and called for collective efforts to safeguard key commercial centres across the state.
