WHIRL STROKE COMMANDER VOWS TO RESTORE PEACE IN BENUE

The Force Commander of the Joint Task Force, Operation Whirl Stroke, Major General Moses Gara, has reaffirmed the military’s commitment to restoring peace and security in Benue State and its surrounding areas.

During an operational tour of key flashpoints under his command, Major General Gara charged officers and men of the COAS Intervention Battalion 9 to maintain discipline, vigilance, and professional conduct as they intensify efforts to eliminate criminal elements threatening the peace of the region.

Addressing troops at military formations across Naka, Gwer, Otukpo, Agatu, and Apa West Local Government Areas, the Commander stressed the importance of resilience and focus in the ongoing counter-terrorism and anti-banditry campaigns.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria will not relent until peace and normalcy are fully restored,” said Lieutenant Ahmad Zubairu, the acting media operations officer, in a statement issued after the tour. He added that those responsible for violence and insecurity will be tracked down and prosecuted according to military and national laws.

The visit also allowed the Commander to evaluate troop morale, operational capacity, and logistics preparedness, while engaging field officers on intelligence updates and the progress of ongoing clearance operations against armed militias and bandit groups.
