Aiyedatiwa Backs Olympic Spirit, Urges Youth to Embrace Fitness

Ondo State Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami, on Saturday led a crowd of sports enthusiasts, fitness groups, and government officials during the 2025 Olympic Day Run in Akure, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to grassroots sports development and national unity.

Representing Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa at the global event, Dr. Adelami described sports as a powerful unifying tool with the potential to promote healthy living, youth engagement, and economic growth.

“Under the leadership of Mr. Governor, we are not just celebrating the Olympic spirit—we are building a strong foundation for inclusive sports development across the state,” he said. “We’re investing in facilities, training, and equipment to create more opportunities for our youths.”

The Olympic Day Run, commemorated globally to mark the birth of the modern Olympic Games, is aimed at encouraging mass participation in physical activity and promoting the core Olympic values of excellence, friendship, and respect.

Dr. Adelami added that the Aiyedatiwa-led administration would continue to drive policies and programmes that use sports as a catalyst for social transformation in Ondo State.
