President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Barrister Ismael Ahmed as the Executive Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi), a strategic move aimed at boosting the administration’s clean energy drive.
In a statement issued by Presidential Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the presidency noted that Ahmed’s appointment aligns with efforts to provide cost-effective and eco-friendly alternatives in the wake of fuel subsidy removal.
Ahmed, 45, a lawyer and policy expert, is expected to steer the initiative’s operations and support the government’s broader palliative framework. He previously served as Senior Special Assistant to former President Muhammadu Buhari on the National Social Investment Programme from 2018 to 2022.
A graduate of the University of Abuja and the Nigerian Law School, Ahmed also holds a master’s degree in international relations, communications, and diplomacy from Webster University in Missouri, USA.
