Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Monday, swore in a fresh batch of Commissioners into the State Executive Council, urging them to hit the ground running in response to the high expectations of residents.
The swearing-in ceremony, held at the International Culture and Events Centre (The Dome), Akure, attracted top government functionaries, political leaders, traditional rulers, and members of the public.
Aiyedatiwa, who described the appointments as a “strategic phase in governance,” restated his administration’s resolve to deliver people-oriented leadership anchored on transparency, accountability, and consistent service delivery.
“The people of Ondo State have entrusted us with their mandate. What they expect—and deserve—is nothing short of excellence. You must rise to that responsibility,” the Governor told the newly inaugurated officials.

The Governor also addressed public concerns over the delay in constituting the cabinet, noting that the decision was deliberate. According to him, his administration favours thoughtful governance over hasty decisions.
“Within our first 100 days, we’ve shown that progress does not require rush. What matters is consistency and focused execution,” he added.
He charged the appointees to align with his administration’s OUR EASE agenda—an acronym for key focus areas such as Economic Development, Food Security, Education, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Security, Youth Empowerment, and Social Welfare.
Aiyedatiwa, who recently signed into law a bill imposing stiffer penalties on kidnappers, including the death sentence, reiterated his government’s resolve to secure lives and property across the state.
He cautioned family members and political associates of the new Commissioners against lobbying for undue favours, warning that such pressures could compromise performance and public trust.
The Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, in his welcome remarks, said the new appointees were carefully selected based on competence, integrity, and their alignment with the administration’s development goals.
Responding on behalf of his colleagues, one of the new Commissioners, Mr. Omoyofunmi Segun, pledged loyalty and commitment to the Governor’s vision for the state.
The event was attended by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami; the First Lady, Mrs. Esther Aiyedatiwa; Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji; the State Chief Judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola; Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omojuwa; Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philip; APC Chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin; federal and state lawmakers; former House of Reps member, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye; traditional rulers; local government chairpersons; and other dignitaries.
The new Commissioners are expected to immediately assume duties in their various ministries.
