Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has returned to the country after a short trip to London, dismissing rumours about his health status.
Akpabio arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, around 4 a.m. on Monday and was welcomed at the presidential wing by some senators, aides, and supporters.
His arrival followed widespread speculation on social media alleging that he was gravely ill and receiving treatment in London. The Senate President, however, described the claims as baseless and a product of misinformation.
Before travelling to the United Kingdom, Akpabio had attended the Sixth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva, Switzerland, between July 29 and 31, where he noted that Nigeria’s delegation made valuable contributions toward strengthening democratic governance and fostering collaboration among parliaments.
Reassuring Nigerians, Akpabio pledged that the Senate would resume from its recess with renewed vigour to drive legislative business.
