The Ondo State Government, in partnership with development agencies, has intensified media advocacy to boost public awareness and ensure optimal coverage ahead of the forthcoming Measles-Rubella (MR) Vaccination Campaign in the state.
A delegation led by the Director of Immunization and Disease Control, Dr. Adefesoye, paid an advocacy visit to the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Idowu Emmanuel Ajanaku, at his office in Akure to strengthen collaboration for the campaign.
The delegation included the State Health Education Officer, Mr. Kehinde Olomiye; Deputy State Health Education Officer, Mrs. Bunmi Ikolo Obaromi; representatives of UNICEF Nigeria, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the C-Wins Nigeria Technical Advisor.

Speaking during the visit, Ajanaku pledged the Ministry’s full support for the campaign. He disclosed that jingles and sensitisation messages would be aired on the Ministry’s flagship programmes — Ondo Path to Progress and Itesiwaju Ipinle Ondo — on Adaba 88.9 FM and Fresh 102.9 FM, Akure, in both English and Yoruba languages.

He stressed the vital role of the media in mobilising communities and driving positive health behaviours.
The advocacy engagement is part of ongoing efforts by the state and its partners to ensure maximum community mobilisation and a successful rollout of the integrated MR vaccination campaign across all 18 Local Government Areas.
