The Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government Area, Hon. Andrew Ogunsakin, has condemned the alleged mistreatment of Fuji musician Abbas Akande Obesere and his team at the Government Field, Okitipupa, describing the incident as “unfortunate, disappointing, and unacceptable.”
The council boss, who reacted through a post on his official Facebook handle, said the conduct of those involved does not reflect the values of the Okitipupa community.
“I received the news of the unfortunate mistreatment meted out to Abbas Akande Obesere and his team yesterday at the Government Field, Okitipupa, with deep disappointment and utmost distaste. This incident is unacceptable and does not reflect the values we uphold as a people,” he said.
The chairman assured residents and the general public that appropriate steps would be taken to address the situation and prevent a recurrence, adding that the local government remains committed to maintaining peace and hospitality.
“I want to assure the public that the necessary steps will be taken to address this matter and to prevent such occurrences in the future, whether toward artists, celebrities, entertainers, or any individual visiting or residing in our local government,” he stated.
He disclosed that he would personally reach out to Obesere and his entourage to offer official regrets and clarify the council’s position on the incident.
According to him, the matter is currently being reviewed to ensure accountability and to forestall similar actions.

“Ikale land and Okitipupa Local Government remain peaceful, hospitable, and welcoming communities. This administration strongly condemns any form of hooliganism and will not tolerate actions that undermine our collective harmony and reputation,” he added.
