ABUJA NURSE KILLED BY SUSPECTED ONE-CHANCE ROBBERS, COLLEAGUES DEMAND JUSTICE

A nurse with the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abuja, Chinemerem Pascalina Chuwumeziem, has been reportedly killed by suspected members of a ‘one-chance’ robbery syndicate in the Federal Capital Territory.

The incident occurred on January 3, 2026, shortly after the nurse completed her afternoon duty and was returning home.

Her body was discovered the following morning, January 4, abandoned by the roadside. It was later evacuated to the FMC, Jabi mortuary.

The killing has thrown the nursing and wider healthcare community into mourning, with colleagues expressing shock, grief, and anger over the tragic incident.

Health workers have called for swift justice, urging security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure that those responsible are brought to book.

Confirming the incident in a statement issued on Monday, January 5, the Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM), Federal Capital Territory Council, Comrade Jama D. Medan, condemned the killing and described it as a painful loss to the profession.

He also appealed to relevant authorities to intensify efforts to curb insecurity and protect residents of the nation’s capital.
