
The Executive Chairman of Akure South Local Government and Chairman of ALGON, Ondo State, Hon. Dr. Fasua Gbenga Timothy, received the leadership of the Nigerian Legion, Akure South chapter, on a courtesy visit. The delegation, led by Chairman Corps Mayor Alabi Stephen Banjo (Rtd), visited the council secretariat.
The visit aimed at reaffirming the Legion’s support for the current administration and praying for a peaceful and successful tenure for the Chairman and the people of Akure South.
Speaking during the visit, Corps Mayor Banjo underscored the Legion’s continued commitment to government efforts in security, safety, and community development. He also sought the support of the local government for an upcoming Legion event and appealed for a monthly stipend to support the office’s operations in Akure South.
Banjo further requested that Legion members be formally recognized and actively involved in local security initiatives, leveraging their experience and training. He also called for logistical and mobility support to enable the Legion to perform its daily duties effectively.
In response, Hon. Dr. Fasua commended the Legion for their dedicated service to humanity and their steadfast commitment to community safety despite their ages. He emphasized that the protection of lives and property remains a priority for his administration.
The Chairman assured the delegation that their requests, including stipends, would be reviewed in collaboration with ALGON and the Ondo State Government. He expressed appreciation for the visit and promised that all concerns raised would be duly addressed.

The visit was attended by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Prince Iteyemi Adegoroye, Mr. Olusola Adeyeye, Isaac Adeleye, and WO Olushina Jimoh (Rtd).
