TINUBU ENDS DANGEROUS BOAT AND AIR TRAVEL TO BONNY ISLAND, SAYS WIKE

President Bola Tinubu has officially brought an end to decades of risky boat and air travel to Bonny Island with the commissioning of the 37.8 km Bodo-Bonny Road—the island’s first-ever land connection.

The partially completed road now allows vehicular traffic, replacing hazardous river crossings and costly air journeys. Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, commended President Tinubu and Minister of Works Dave Umahi for delivering the long-awaited infrastructure, describing it as “transformational” for the region.

Residents and local leaders have welcomed the milestone, highlighting that travel from Bonny to Port Harcourt can now be completed by road—an advancement expected to boost commerce, enhance safety, and stimulate economic growth.
