UNIVERSITY OF FORTUNE SET TO ADMIT STUDENTS AS NUC CLEARS 17 COURSES

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved 17 undergraduate programmes for the University of Fortune, Igbotako, Ondo State, paving the way for the institution to begin full academic activities in the 2025/2026 academic session.

The development was disclosed in a statement shared on the official Facebook page of Barrister Jihmon Ibrahim, the founder of the university. According to the post, the approvals were granted in late December 2025 following a successful resource verification exercise conducted by the NUC.

The newly established private university, which is operating under a provisional licence, has been allocated an initial admission quota of 800 students across four faculties.

Under the Faculty of Science and Computing, the university received approval to run degree programmes in Computer Science, Information and Communication Technology, and Cyber Security. The Faculty of Basic Medical and Allied Health Sciences will offer Nursing Science, Public Health, and Radiology.

The NUC also cleared the institution to admit students into its Faculty of Law for the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) programme. In addition, several programmes were approved under the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, including Accounting, Finance, Economics, International Relations, Criminology and Security Studies, Intelligence and Security Studies, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Project Management, and Procurement Management.

As part of the approval process, the NUC has formally notified the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to list the programmes on its portal, allowing prospective students to select the university during the 2025/2026 admission exercise.

The University of Fortune is located in Igbotako, Ondo State. The founder also clarified that the institution should not be mistaken for Fountain University, Osogbo, which is a separate university with its own distinct list of accredited courses.
