ONDO YOUTH ALLIANCE FOR TINUBU INAUGURATED TO MOBILIZE VOTES AHEAD OF 2027 POLLS

A new youth support group, the Ondo Youth Alliance for Tinubu (OYAT), has been inaugurated in Akure to rally support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

At the event, OYAT Director-General, Thalis Olonite Apalowo, said the group’s goal is to help the President secure at least one million votes in Ondo State, citing the rising strength of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state following defections from other political parties.

Apalowo highlighted Ondo State’s strong backing for President Tinubu in the last general elections despite stiff competition from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He noted that youth-focused programmes, including the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), have benefited over 510,000 students nationwide, improving access to higher education.

He also pointed out that initiatives such as CreditCorp and iDICE have provided over N30 billion in loans and opened new opportunities in the digital and creative sectors for young Nigerians. Apalowo praised Hon. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, calling him a “son of the soil” whose reforms have strengthened ministry efficiency.

“The last time Ondo State mobilized over 360,000 votes for Tinubu; now, our target is at least one million votes. We want to build on the good foundation laid by this administration,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Director of Student Affairs, Fakunwumi Folorunsho, said youths are rallying behind the President due to reforms in education and increased youth corp member allowances, while Ibrahim Azeez, Director of Community Affairs, added that Tinubu’s leadership and the performance of Hon. Tunji-Ojo have earned the confidence of Ondo youths.
