A former councillor who represented Ugbo Ward V in Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, Hon. Erukubami Sunday, has resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Hon. Erukubami announced his resignation in a letter dated June 26, 2026, addressed to the Chairman of the APC in Ugbo Ward V, Ilaje Local Government Area. The letter was made available to journalists in Igbokoda, the headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area.

The former councillor, who served between 2020 and 2023, said his resignation takes immediate effect.
According to him, the decision followed careful reflection and personal consideration.
He, however, did not disclose the specific reasons for leaving the ruling party.
Part of the letter reads:
“I, Hon. Erukubami Sunday, former Honourable Councillor representing Ugbo Ward V (2020–2023), hereby formally resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with immediate effect.
“This decision was made after careful reflection and personal consideration. I remain grateful to the party for the opportunity to serve, contribute, and work alongside dedicated leaders and members during my time in the APC.”
Hon. Erukubami expressed appreciation to the party, its leadership, and members for the support, encouragement, and cooperation extended to him throughout his membership.
He also wished the APC well in its future endeavours and urged the party to update its records to reflect his resignation.
His exit adds to the growing wave of political movements and realignments in Ilaje, Ondo State, as stakeholders continue consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.

As of the time of filing this report, the APC leadership in Ugbo Ward V had not officially reacted to the resignation.
