Okitipupa LGA Launches Registration for Scrap Metal Operators to Bolster Security

In a bid to reinforce local security measures and properly regulate informal economic activities, the Executive Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Hon. Andrew Ogunsakin, has mandated the immediate start of a thorough registration process for all scrap metal operators and scavengers operating within the local government area.

This instruction follows the recent prohibition on scavenging activities, which was put in place due to rising security concerns. The registration initiative is a proactive step designed to establish a verified database of all individuals involved in the scrap metal trade in Okitipupa Local Government.

Once the registration is complete, each operator will receive a unique identification number and profile to improve accountability and traceability within their operations. Only registered individuals will be allowed to resume their activities, and any unregistered operations after the specified timeframe will be subject to appropriate penalties.

The Chairman reaffirms his administration’s dedication to ensuring a secure and organized environment for all residents and businesses, while also establishing a supportive framework for legitimate operators in the scrap metal sector to flourish within a regulated system.

It is crucial to understand that the ban on scrap metal operations will remain in effect and will only be lifted after the registration process has been fully completed and further guidance is provided by the relevant authorities.
