Davido’s Newborn Son’s Striking Resemblance to Late Ifeanyi: “Scary” – Singer Reveals

Music superstar David Adeleke, known professionally as Davido, recently described the striking resemblance between his newborn son and his late son, Ifeanyi, as “scary.” Ifeanyi tragically drowned at the family’s Banana Island home on November 1, 2022.

Months after Ifeanyi’s death, Davido publicly revealed his “secret” marriage to Chioma. In October 2023, nearly a year to the day after the loss of Ifeanyi, the couple welcomed twins—a boy and a girl—followed by a lavish wedding in June 2024.

During a recent interview with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1, Davido shared his emotional reaction to the twins’ arrival, stating that his new son’s resemblance to Ifeanyi felt like a return. Reflecting on the profound impact of his loss, the “Unavailable” singer confessed, “That loss made me want to withdraw. I needed to relax, support my wife and family, and regain my composure. To recover from that and then be blessed with twins—a boy and a girl—was incredible.”

He continued, “And the boy looks exactly like my son, Ifeanyi. It’s unnerving. He’s virtually his twin. We keep saying, ‘It’s him. He’s come back.’”

Davido shared that the agonizing experience reshaped him, enabling him to provide solace and inspiration to those facing similar hardships. His marriage to Chioma and the success of his 2023 album, Timeless, have reinforced his faith, leading him to declare, “God is real.”

Speaking about his musical journey, Davido expressed immense satisfaction in realizing his dreams, inspired in part by observing other successful artists on social media.

On his collaboration with American singer Chris Brown, Davido revealed they’ve recorded approximately 20 songs together, potentially enough material for two joint albums. He said, “We could release two albums right now. It’s definitely happening. I’m thrilled for Chris. He’s back on top of his game, celebrating his 20th anniversary. I told him I was meant to join his tour (Breezy Bowl, 20th-anniversary tour).”

Davido confirmed his expansion into the film industry as an executive producer on a film and a television series directed by Dammy Twitch, adding, “We’re also working on my documentary.”
