The Ondo State Security Network, known as Amotekun, has successfully freed five individuals who were abducted in different areas of the state.
During a press briefing in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, Commander Adetunji Adeleye stated that Amotekun operatives also stopped twelve kidnapping attempts in the border regions of the state during the past two weeks.
Emmanuel Adeladu was one of the five people rescued after being kidnapped recently along the Ikare/Owo highway in Ondo State.
Before being saved by Amotekun, Adeladu sustained cutlass injuries from his captors.
The other kidnapping victims were rescued along the Ore/Ijebu Ode/Lagos highway.
In a statement to the press, Commander Adetunji Adeleye mentioned that the alleged kidnappers had requested a ransom ranging from 50 million to 100 million naira before they would release their victims.
Adeleye affirmed that the corps, in cooperation with other security organizations, is committed to preventing criminal activity, particularly in border towns and communities.
