Osun State Governor and Accord Party candidate, Ademola Adeleke, has won Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

The result was announced in the early hours of Sunday by the Presiding Officer, Prof. Lekan Ogunwole, who is also the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti.

Adeleke polled 511,067 votes to defeat the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who secured 444,815 votes.

The African Democratic Congress candidate, Najeem Salam, came third with 17,180 votes.

Adeleke won in 19 of the state’s 30 Local Government Areas, while Oyebamiji won in 11 LGAs.

The election recorded 1,010,684 accredited voters out of 2,339,544 registered voters. Of the votes cast, 985,079 were valid, while 20,721 were rejected, bringing the total votes cast to 1,005,800.

With the declaration, Adeleke has secured another term as governor of Osun State.
