Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate, Ademola Adeleke, on Saturday cast his vote in the ongoing governorship election in the state.
Adeleke arrived at Polling Unit 009, Ward 02, Abogunde Compound, Ede North Local Government Area, at about 8:10 a.m. and joined other voters for the electoral exercise.
The governor completed the accreditation process before casting his ballot.
Early voter turnout was recorded in parts of Ede, the governor’s hometown, as well as Ilesa and Osogbo.
In Ede, some voters arrived at their polling units as early as 6:40 a.m., while vehicles were seen transporting voters and National Youth Service Corps members to various locations from about 6:30 a.m.
Security operatives were deployed across Ede North and Ede South LGAs, with checkpoints mounted in compliance with the restriction on vehicular movement during the election.
Personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps were also stationed at several polling units ahead of the arrival of electoral officials and election materials.
Local election observers were equally present at some polling units to monitor the process.
However, while accreditation had commenced at some locations, the register of eligible voters had yet to be displayed at some other polling units visited.
A similar turnout was recorded in other parts of the state, including Ilesa and Osogbo, as voters arrived at polling units to exercise their franchise.
