OPERATIVES ARREST 184, RESCUE MINORS IN PLATEAU ANTI-TRAFFICKING RAIDS

No fewer than 184 people were arrested during overnight raids by the Plateau State Anti-Human Trafficking Taskforce across Jos and surrounding areas.

The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Philemon Daffi, who chairs the state taskforce, disclosed this on Saturday while briefing journalists at the Ministry of Justice Secretariat in Jos.

Describing the operation as a breakthrough in the fight against human trafficking and child exploitation, Daffi said it was intelligence-driven and executed simultaneously at multiple locations late Thursday night into Friday morning.

The raids led to the arrest of three pregnant women, seven female minors, 41 female adults, nine male minors, and 123 male adults, bringing the total number of suspects in custody to 184.

“All suspects are undergoing profiling. Those found culpable will face prosecution in line with the law,” Daffi said. He added that the operation’s success came after months of planning, training, and data-driven intelligence, aimed at outsmarting traffickers who considered Plateau a safe haven.

Daffi condemned child prostitution, calling it “slavery” and a gross violation of the Child’s Rights Law. He emphasised that minors involved have no consent and that such acts are heinous crimes against humanity.
