
The Ondo State House of Assembly has passed into law a bill converting Owena Press Limited into the Ondo State Government Printing and Publishing Corporation.
The bill was unanimously passed through a voice vote during plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Olamide Oladiji, at the Assembly Complex in Akure.
The development followed the presentation of a committee report by the Chairman, House Committee on Information, Hon. Olatunji Ifabiyi.
The report reads:
The bill was unanimously passed into law through voice votes by the lawmakers at a plenary session presided over by the Speaker of the House , Rt.Hon. (Chief ) Olamide Oladiji at the House of Assembly Complex in Akure, today.
The passage of the bill followed the submission of the report by the Chairman , House Committee on information, Honourable Olatunji Ifabiyi. According to the Chairman,the reform is expected to improve staff welfare and professional development by creating a clearer career structure, better working conditions and opportunities for training in modern printing and digital publishing.
The leader of the House ,Hon(Chief) Olatunji Oshati had earlier moved the motion for the bill to be passed into law and seconded by the lawmaker representing Ondo West 11, Hon. Oladapo Biola .
The Leader of the House, Hon. (Chief) Olatunji Oshati, had moved the motion for the passage of the bill, which was seconded by Hon. Oladapo Biola, representing Ondo West II.
Oshati described the reform as long overdue, saying it represents a step toward efficiency, sustainability, and improved communication in government printing operations.
The Speaker of the House, in his remarks, said the conversion would strengthen the security of government publications and ensure proper archival preservation of official records and historical materials.
He also commended members of the committee for their work and lauded Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for his commitment to the development of the state.

In another development, the Assembly also passed into law a bill to amend the Ondo State Electric Power Sector Law, 2020.
The motion was moved by the Leader of the House and seconded by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Gbegudu Ololade.
Presenting the report, Chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee on Transportation and Public Utilities, Hon. Chris Ayebusiwa, said the amended law would guarantee stable, reliable, and affordable electricity supply across the state.
He added that improved electricity infrastructure would also boost the state’s internally generated revenue.
The bill was unanimously adopted through a voice vote.
The House also received the report of the Public Accounts Committee on the 2022 Auditor-General’s report covering the audited accounts of the 18 local government areas in the state.
Lawmakers observed a minute’s silence in honour of the late Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammad Usman, who recently passed away.
Plenary was thereafter adjourned to Friday, 10th April, 2026.
