Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him by President Bola Tinubu following his appointment as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency.
Fayose, while reacting to the appointment, expressed appreciation to the President for the opportunity to serve, assuring Nigerians that he would discharge his responsibilities with diligence once the board begins operations.
The former governor described the appointment as a call to contribute to efforts aimed at expanding electricity access to rural communities across the country.
President Tinubu had, on July 20, announced Fayose’s appointment alongside those of 25 others to the boards of various federal agencies and commissions.
Speaking on expectations from the agency, Fayose explained that the board had yet to be formally inaugurated, noting that it would be premature to outline policy directions before members officially assume office.
He said the board would unveil its priorities after inauguration, expressing confidence that its programmes would support the Federal Government’s drive to improve electricity supply in underserved rural communities.
Fayose also reaffirmed his commitment to serving with integrity, stressing that he would work to ensure the President’s confidence in him was not misplaced.
