The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has reiterated that only graduates who present a compliance certificate from the Nigeria Education Repository and Databank (NERD) will be eligible for mobilisation, in a renewed effort to curb certificate fraud and strengthen the integrity of the mobilisation process.
The Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, made this known in his keynote address at the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Pre-Mobilisation Workshop held in Abuja, themed “Strengthening Institutional Accountability and Compliance in the NYSC Mobilisation Process for Effective Service Delivery.”
He urged Corps Producing Institutions (CPIs) to intensify sensitisation among students and ensure full compliance with the directive.
Nafiu also stressed that the mobilisation exercise is a shared responsibility, calling on regulatory agencies, security organisations, and relevant ministries to provide stronger policy backing, capacity support, and enforcement mechanisms.
According to him, improved synergy among stakeholders would guarantee a smoother, more transparent, and credible transition of graduates into national service.
He further called for bold and innovative solutions to address challenges in the mobilisation system, adding that a more accountable and efficient process was achievable.
Earlier, the NYSC Director of Corps Mobilisation, Mrs. Rachel Ideawor, described the workshop as a crucial platform for strengthening collaboration among the Scheme, tertiary institutions, and other stakeholders.
She noted that while progress had been recorded in improving mobilisation processes, further optimisation was still required across the value chain to enhance service delivery.
Ideawor also charged Student Affairs Officers to carry out their duties with diligence and integrity, ensuring accurate documentation of prospective corps members.
The workshop had in attendance representatives of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), National Universities Commission (NUC), National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Federal Ministry of Education, Nigeria Education Repository and Databank (NERD), SIDMACH Technologies, as well as 266 Student Affairs Officers from various Corps Producing Institutions across the country.
