
Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the appointment of Chief Segun Odusanya as the new Head of Service of the state.
The appointment, which takes effect from June 6, 2026, was announced on Friday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan.
Odusanya succeeds Mr. Bayo Philips, who retired from the state public service after attaining the mandatory retirement age.
Governor Aiyedatiwa commended Philips for his dedication and contributions to the growth of the state’s public service and wished him success in his future endeavours.
The governor also charged the incoming Head of Service to leverage his extensive experience in the civil service to strengthen governance and support the effective implementation of the administration’s OUR EASE development agenda.
Born on February 6, 1967, Chief Odusanya attended St. Peter’s Primary School, Ile-Oluji, and Gboluji Anglican Grammar School before proceeding to Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, where he obtained a Bachelor of Agriculture degree in 1989.
He later earned a Postgraduate Diploma in Management Studies from the same institution in 1992 and obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Ado-Ekiti in 2000.
Odusanya joined the Ondo State Public Service in September 1995 and rose through the ranks before his appointment as Permanent Secretary in 2019.
During his career, he served as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Ondo State Civil Service Commission, and the Ministry of Transport. Until his latest appointment, he was the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
He currently serves as Chairman of the Forum of Permanent Secretaries in Ondo State.
A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, the Chartered Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Local Government Administration, Odusanya is regarded as one of the state’s most experienced public administrators.
He is married to Lady Oluwatoyin Odusanya, and they are blessed with three children.
