The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has appointed Chief Superintendent of Police, Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, as the new Force Public Relations Officer.
The appointment was announced on Friday in a statement issued by the outgoing police spokesman, Anthony Okon Placid.
Iniedu, who hails from Etinan Local Government Area, studied Pure Chemistry at University of Uyo and has built a career spanning public communication, intelligence operations, policing, and administrative management.
Until his elevation, he headed the Complaint Response Unit at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, overseeing the handling of public complaints and driving reforms aimed at improving transparency, accountability, and citizens’ confidence in the police.
His previous assignments include serving as Operations Officer in Maisandari Division, Yobe State; Area Crime Officer in Umuahia Area Command, Abia State; Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat; Second-in-Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron in Kubwa; and Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room.
The police chief expressed confidence in Iniedu’s ability to lead the Force Public Relations Department, saying his experience would enhance the Force’s communication strategy and strengthen public engagement.
He takes over from DCP Anthony Okon Placid, who served as the Force spokesperson.
