The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate polled 68,474 votes to defeat other contenders in the election conducted across the six local government areas of the district.
The Returning Officer, Prof. Gbenga Solomon-Ibileye, who announced the result on Sunday in Okitipupa, said Faduyile clearly led the field with the highest number of valid votes cast.
According to the official figures, Adeolu Akinwunmi of the Allied People’s Movement scored 1,411 votes, while Adesanya Olaoluwa of the Action People’s Party and Clement Funso-Nejo of the Boot Party polled 213 and 70 votes respectively.
INEC stated that a total of 70,770 votes were cast, with 602 rejected.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ondo State, Mutiu Agboke, described the exercise as a useful preparation ground ahead of the 2027 general elections, noting that the commission would build on the experience gained.
He also said the election went smoothly, adding that all personnel deployed, including those in riverine areas, returned safely without any major incident.
The by-election was conducted in Okitipupa, Ilaje, Ese-Odo, Irele, Odigbo, and Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government Areas.
The seat became vacant following the appointment of former senator, Jimoh Ibrahim, as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
