NIDCOM HAILS NIGERIAN NURSE AS UK NAMES BUS STOP AFTER HER

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission has congratulated a Nigerian-born nurse and social media personality, Bemi Orojuogun, popularly known as “London Bus Aunty,” after a bus stop in London was named in her honour.

NiDCOM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, described the recognition as a remarkable achievement and a source of pride for Nigeria and its citizens in the diaspora.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Dabiri-Erewa said Orojuogun’s story showed how passion, authenticity and positive representation could create an impact beyond Nigeria.

Orojuogun gained popularity on social media through videos centred on London’s iconic red buses and her fascination with the city’s transport system.

Her content, which highlights everyday life in London, has attracted audiences while showcasing a positive image of Nigerians living in the United Kingdom.

Dabiri-Erewa praised Orojuogun for using her platform to entertain and connect with people, while positively representing Nigeria in the UK.

She also commended Transport for London for recognising Orojuogun’s contribution and celebrating her relationship with the city’s transport community.

The NiDCOM boss said the honour underscored the contributions of Nigerians to communities and different sectors across the world.

She urged Orojuogun to see the recognition as motivation to continue using her platform positively and wished her further success.
