In a fresh push to unlock Ondo State’s tourism potential, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has expressed readiness to partner with private investors to promote cultural and eco-tourism, citing the sector’s promise for economic growth and heritage preservation.
Speaking in Akure on Saturday while receiving a delegation from the Nigerian Association of Tour Operators (NATOP), led by its president, Hajia Bolaji Mustapha, Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized his administration’s strides in improving infrastructure, security, and the business environment to attract both local and international investors.
“For tourism to thrive, we must guarantee security, build infrastructure and create an enabling environment. These are priorities we’ve consistently pursued,” the Governor said, noting ongoing upgrades to road networks and the state airport as critical enablers for tourism expansion.
Tour operators, currently on a familiarization tour of Ondo, visited the Araromi Beach in Ilaje Local Government Area—one of Nigeria’s hidden gems—and praised the state for maintaining a peaceful and welcoming atmosphere.
Hajia Mustapha described Araromi Beach as one of the finest in the country and commended the Governor’s proactive approach to tourism development, saying, “Ondo State is blessed with rich and untapped tourism assets, and the Governor’s passion is evident.”

Also present at the meeting were top government functionaries including Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti; Chief of Staff, Prince Segun Omojuwa; Attorney General, Dr. Olukayode Ajulo (SAN); and several special advisers.
The Governor assured NATOP of the state’s commitment to further collaboration, stressing that Ondo is open for tourism investment and willing to work with partners to project its unique attractions on a national and global scale.
