A former Caretaker Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, Bashorun Tola Alabere, has been elected as the new Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the state.
Alabere emerged during the party’s state congress held on Saturday, where other executive members were also elected through a consensus arrangement.
Other officials elected include Dare Akinwale as Organising Secretary, Oloye Ola Amure as Legal Adviser, Kunle Adeloye as Secretary, while Ayodele Ogunsuyi and Bobby Omotoso emerged as Deputy Chairmen.
The Chairman of the National Convention Committee, Kehinde Agboola, who supervised the exercise, said the process complied with the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act.
Agboola noted that ward and local government congresses had earlier been conducted, which paved the way for the state congress aimed at strengthening the party’s structure ahead of future elections.
He also alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) had been attempting to weaken opposition parties, stressing that the ADC remained committed to expanding its political influence.

In his acceptance speech, Alabere pledged to reposition the party and broaden its support base across Ondo State.
Also speaking, party chieftain Bode Ayorinde expressed optimism that the ADC had recorded significant growth in membership and would be a strong contender in future elections.
