FG, State HoS Meet in Katsina, Push for Digital Reforms and Stronger Federal-State Collaboration

Didi Esther Walson-Jack, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, has advocated for greater cooperation between the federal and state civil services to foster a more efficient, citizen-focused public administration.

She made this call during the inaugural retreat held in Katsina, bringing together the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Heads of Service from all states, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The retreat, themed “Future of the Nigerian Civil Service: Harnessing Federal-State Collaboration for Accelerated Development,” provided a platform for Heads of Service from across the nation and the FCT to strategize on fortifying governance structures for the advancement of the country.

Walson-Jack highlighted that the retreat was taking place during a crucial phase in Nigeria’s development, a time when public expectations of government are at an all-time high. She also stressed the importance of adhering to global best practices, referencing a study tour to Singapore, which involved 20 State Heads of Service, as an example of innovative governance.

The HCSF also announced that her office has established regular engagements with state counterparts to ensure continuous synergy and knowledge sharing across all levels of government. Furthermore, she urged all State Heads of Service to lead the adoption of digital initiatives introduced by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), emphasizing the necessity for civil servants to embrace digital tools to enhance their capabilities.

The retreat saw the participation of 22 State Heads of Service.
