ADC FACES MAJOR LAWMAKERS’ EXODUS AS OBI, KWANKWASO’S NDC MOVE TRIGGERS FRESH DEFECTIONS

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) may suffer a major setback in the National Assembly as a significant number of lawmakers who joined the party from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) and the South-East are reportedly preparing to defect to the National Democratic Coalition (NDC).

The planned defections are said to be linked to the anticipated movement of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and ex-Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso to the NDC.

Senator Victor Umeh is expected to spearhead the defection of most South-East lawmakers, while Kwankwaso is believed to be coordinating the return of former NNPP members who had earlier aligned with the ADC.

In Kano, former APC governorship candidate Nasiru Gawuna, who recently joined the ADC, is also reportedly set to move to the NDC alongside former Deputy Governor Aminu Gwarzo.

The development signals a potential political realignment that could significantly weaken the ADC’s legislative strength ahead of future political contests.
