FIRST LADY URGES YOUTHS TO EMBRACE VOLUNTARY BLOOD DONATION

Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has appealed to Nigerians, particularly young people, to make voluntary blood donation a regular practice to support healthcare delivery across the country.

The First Lady made the call in a message marking the 2026 World Blood Donor Day celebration, stressing the need for a steady supply of safe blood in public health facilities.

She described blood donors as heroes whose selfless contributions continue to save countless lives, especially those requiring emergency medical interventions and transfusions.

According to her, a dependable blood supply remains critical to an efficient and resilient healthcare system, noting that voluntary donations strengthen the nation’s capacity to provide quality health services.

Sen. Oluremi urged more Nigerians, especially the youth, to embrace the culture of donating blood willingly to ensure its availability whenever needed.

Commemorating this year’s World Blood Donor Day themed, “Honouring the Heroes of Life,” the First Lady praised blood donors worldwide for their compassion and commitment to humanity.

She added that every unit of blood donated represents hope for patients battling critical health conditions and contributes significantly to saving lives.

The First Lady wished Nigerians a memorable World Blood Donor Day celebration and reiterated the importance of collective efforts in promoting voluntary blood donation nationwide.
