OKITIPUPA LG CHAIRMAN JOINS MUSLIMS AT JUMAT, PREACHES UNITY AHEAD OF INDEPENDENCE DAY

With preparations heightening for Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary on October 1, the Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Hon. Andrew Ogunsakin, on Friday worshipped with Muslim faithful at the Central Mosque, Okitipupa.

Ogunsakin, who joined the Jumat congregation, urged Nigerians to embrace peace and unity irrespective of religious differences, insisting that mutual respect and tolerance remain key to community and national development.

The council boss also charged citizens to sustain prayers for the peace, stability and prosperity of the country, while pledging his administration’s continued support for religious harmony across Okitipupa.

The visit, which drew warm reception from the Muslim community, saw Ogunsakin commending the Imam and the congregation for their devotion to peace and for serving as a unifying force within the local government.

The chairman was accompanied by top officials including Vice Chairman, Hon. Ogunyemi Orimisan; Leader of Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Adeleke Dada; Secretary to the LG, Barr. Femi Oladokun; Chief of Staff, Mr. Saka Kadri; and other dignitaries.

The event, seen by observers as symbolic ahead of Independence Day, underscored the call for interfaith cooperation at a time the nation continues to grapple with socio-economic and security challenges.
